FAQ

What is Pounds Transformation?

Unlike traditional weight loss programs, Pounds Transformation is a medical practice that specializes in diagnosing the conditions that lead patients to experience abnormal weight gain. Pounds' strategy of using medical providers and dietitians allows us to take a holistic approach to your weight loss journey. In understanding hormones and other medical conditions, the providers are able to treat underlying causes and develop individual strategies using food to facilitate weight loss and improvement of medical problems.

What insurance plans do you work with?

We primarily work with Anthem BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, Connecticare, United Healthcare, and Medicare including Medicare Supplement Plans.

Please note there may be limitations to some of these plans due to the networks and policies. Please contact your insurance provider prior to your visit.

How can I confirm if my insurance is accepted?

To confirm if Pounds Transformation is in-network, please call the number on the back of your insurance card and speak directly with your insurance provider. We are considered a specialist, so any deductibles, co-pays, and other costs you typically pay for specialists will likely apply. Again, we recommend contact your insurance provider for the most accurate information.

How long are appointments?

Your first appointment with a medical provider will be 60-90 minutes long. After you meet with a medical provider, your second visit will be with a dietitian. That visit will be 60 minutes long.

What should I bring to my appointment?

You should bring a photo ID, insurance card(s), and completed paperwork when you arrive for your first visit. Most importantly you should bring an open mind and goal you want to achieve! Our team is here to work with you on your weight loss journey!

Where are you located?

We have offices in West Hartford, Southington, and Glastonbury.

Do I need a referral to become a patient?

It depends. Please check with your insurance provider to see if it is required.

Do you have to purchase food and/or supplements as a patient?

No! You are not required to buy any products. That being said, we do offer a wide variety of supplements and food products for patients who are interested.
